In 1986, a few months after I started skateboarding, my neighbor Stevie Dread started calling me “Batboy”. This was due to a Batman t-shirt I often wore, and that the Batman symbol was cut into a couple of my earlier skateboard’s griptape designs. Instead of realizing that it was a bad idea, I embraced it. A couple years later I even started a little skater crew called Gotham City Skates. Finally I figured out that I would like to inspire more girls to want to have sex with me, so I left Batman behind. So here in 2014 I just landed this unusual gig which had me somewhat reluctantly drawing Batman - then very quickly REALLY ENJOYING drawing Batman - and I didn’t make the connection to my Batman past until well after I was finished. My brain works very slowly. It’s a pretty good brain if there’s no time limits, but I won’t be winning any quiz shows…or even remembering what I like to do before I’m actually doing it. I need to write myself a list.
